Chicago limo rates

A quick pricing overview

How Much Does Limo Service Cost in Chicago?

For common downtown Chicago trips, published base rates begin at:

  • $100 for an Executive Sedan from downtown Chicago to O’Hare or Midway
  • $130 for an SUV from downtown Chicago to O’Hare or Midway
  • $260 for a 13-passenger Mercedes-Benz Sprinter from downtown Chicago to O’Hare or Midway
  • $75 per hour for an Executive Sedan booked hourly, with a three-hour minimum

Those figures cover the most commonly requested trips. Rates for suburban pickups, long-distance routes, group movements, and multi-vehicle itineraries are quoted individually because distance, timing, vehicle class, waiting and itinerary complexity can change the price.

This page shows LimoRSVP’s published Chicago limo and car service rates, explains what is added to the base rate, identifies charges that may apply depending on the trip, and shows how to request trip-specific pricing for your itinerary.

Airport-to-Chicago pickup rates are slightly higher and are listed in the airport table below. The published figures are base rates; the 12% service charge and 20% chauffeur gratuity are added when the reservation is priced, while tolls, parking, airport charges and other trip-specific items may apply.

Airport transfers

Chicago Airport Limo Rates: O’Hare & Midway

These are point-to-point transfer rates between downtown Chicago and either O’Hare International Airport (ORD) or Midway International Airport (MDW). Both airports are published at the same rate from the Loop.

Chicago (Loop) to and from O'Hare (ORD) and Midway (MDW)
Vehicle classChicago to airportAirport to Chicago
Executive Sedan – Volvo S90 or Cadillac CT$100$104
Premium Sedan – Mercedes-Benz S-Class$140$144
SUV – Suburban, Navigator, or Escalade$130$134
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van (13 passengers)$260$296

Rates shown are base transfer rates. A 12% service charge and 20% chauffeur gratuity are added to every reservation. Tolls, parking, and other airport charges are billed separately when they apply.

Why airport pickup rates differ

Rates from the airport into Chicago are published higher than rates into the airport. The difference is the MPEA airport departure tax – the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority charge that applies to ground transportation picking up passengers at O’Hare and Midway. It is $4 per pickup for the sedan and SUV classes above, and $36 for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van.

Hourly service

Chicago Hourly Limo & Chauffeur Rates

Hourly service reserves a service period rather than a single point-to-point transfer. It can be useful when the return time is uncertain, when the itinerary includes several stops, or when planned waiting and schedule flexibility are part of the trip.

Hourly and mileage rates by vehicle class
Vehicle classHourly rateMileage rate
Executive Sedan – Volvo S90 or Cadillac CT$75 / hour$3.00 / mile
Premium Sedan – Mercedes-Benz S-Class$120 / hour$4.00 / mile
SUV – Suburban, Navigator, or Escalade$100 / hour$3.75 / mile
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van (13 passengers)$130 / hour$4.00 / mile

Minimum service time

  • Three-hour minimum for hourly charters
  • One-hour minimum for downtown transfers

Hourly rate or mileage rate – which one applies

Each vehicle class publishes both an hourly rate and a mileage rate. These are alternatives, not additions. Hourly and mileage rates are not automatically combined.

Mileage pricing is used instead of hourly pricing when an itinerary involves a considerable amount of driving within a relatively short period. Which method applies is normally determined in advance and confirmed in your written quote, so you know the pricing structure before the trip rather than after it.

Hourly service is commonly reserved for meetings, roadshows, conventions, evening itineraries, and events where waiting for a return vehicle is not practical. Full detail on how hourly reservations are planned and how time is counted is on the hourly chauffeur service page.

Pricing transparency

Chicago Limo Rates: What Is Included & What Costs Extra

This is the section most pricing pages get wrong, so it is worth stating plainly.

What the published rate covers

The rates in the tables above are base rates. They cover the reserved vehicle and a professional chauffeur for the scheduled trip.

12%Service charge
20%Chauffeur gratuity

What is added to every reservation

Both are applied automatically to airport transfers, hourly charter service, and mileage-based reservations. They are not already contained in the rates shown above. The number in the table is the base rate; these two items are added when the reservation is priced. Your written quote shows the resulting total before you confirm.

What may be added depending on the trip
ItemAmount
Late night / early morning service, 11:00 PM to 4:59 AM$15 – $25
Holiday premium, on the dates listed below$20
Airport feesAs incurred
TollsAs incurred
ParkingAs incurred
Inline stop$20
Out-of-route stopCalculated by the office

The MPEA airport departure tax is a separate matter. It is already contained in the published airport-to-Chicago rates and is not billed again. Other airport charges, when they apply, are billed separately.

The holiday premium applies on New Year’s Eve after 6:00 PM, New Year’s Day, Christmas Eve after 6:00 PM, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving Day.

Certain high-congestion venues carry an additional destination charge. The amount depends on the venue and the timing, and it is confirmed on your quote rather than published, because the conditions that trigger it vary by event.

Choose your service format

Choosing Between Point-to-Point, Hourly & Downtown Service

Three service formats cover most Chicago itineraries. Picking the right one matters more to your final cost than picking the vehicle. If you are deciding between a reserved vehicle by the hour and a single transfer, see our hourly vs. point-to-point chauffeur service comparison.

Point-to-point transfer

Pickup and drop-off are both fixed, and no waiting is required in between

Priced asPublished transfer rate

Hourly charter

The return time is uncertain, the itinerary has multiple stops, or planned waiting and schedule flexibility are needed

Priced asHourly rate, three-hour minimum

Downtown Transfer

A direct trip inside central Chicago, completed within one hour

Priced asQuoted on request

The Downtown Transfer option

The Downtown Transfer is a direct point-to-point option for shorter trips inside central Chicago – between meetings, hotels, restaurants, convention venues, and McCormick Place. Each transfer includes up to one hour from pickup to drop-off, with no garage time.

How it is priced: the Downtown Transfer is based on the Executive Sedan hourly rate of $75 per hour, with a one-hour minimum. The 12% service charge and 20% chauffeur gratuity apply as they do to every reservation. Certain conditions apply, so confirm availability for your route when you book. Broader point-to-point service across the city is covered on the Chicago car service page.

Downtown coverage area

  • North: Fullerton Ave (2400N)
  • South: Cermak Rd (2200S) / McCormick Place
  • West: Ashland Ave (1600W)
  • East: Lake Michigan

When hourly service is the better choice

If the trip ends at a stadium, theatre, or arena, hourly service can be the more practical reservation. Departing crowds, street closures, and staged vehicle access can affect point-to-point pickup timing and location. A reserved service period can better accommodate planned waiting and post-event timing, subject to the confirmed reservation terms. This applies to venues including United Center, Soldier Field, Wrigley Field, Allstate Arena, and Ravinia Festival. For certain venues or outdoor amphitheatres, LimoRSVP may require hourly service based on operating conditions and the confirmed transportation plan.

Additional options

Optional Services & What Can Change Your Chicago Limo Price

Optional services
ServiceRate
Airport meet and greet – when available and confirmed, based on airport procedure$50 per pickup
On-site transportation coordinator – for meetings, conferences, and large group movements$65 per hour, four-hour minimum
Child seats – infant and toddler seats provided on requestConfirmed on your quote

What moves a quote away from the published rate

  • Vehicle class. Passenger count and luggage volume usually decide this before preference does. Capacities for each vehicle are on the LimoRSVP fleet page.
  • Pickup or drop-off outside downtown. Suburban and regional trips are quoted by distance and time.
  • Time of day and date. Late-night and holiday service carry the published surcharges above.
  • Waiting time and added stops. Additional waiting can change the final amount. An inline stop is $20; out-of-route stops are calculated by the office.
  • Event congestion. Restricted streets and staged venue access can require additional time.
  • One-way versus round trip. Two separate transfers price differently from a continuous hourly reservation.
  • Number of vehicles. Group movements are quoted as a coordinated plan, not as a multiple of one rate.
  • Tolls, parking, and airport fees. Billed as incurred rather than estimated.

Individual itineraries

Groups, Events, Suburbs, and Long-Distance Pricing

The published tables cover downtown airport transfers and standard hourly service. Everything below is quoted individually, because a table cannot represent these trips accurately.

  • Groups and multiple vehicles. Passenger count, luggage volume, staging, and arrival timing determine the plan. See group transportation.
  • Conventions and trade shows. Multi-day and multi-vehicle schedules are built around the show calendar. See Chicago convention transportation.
  • Events and venues. Congestion, street closures, and post-event access shape both format and price. See event transportation.
  • Corporate and recurring travel. Ongoing programs and centralized billing are arranged separately. See Chicago corporate transportation.
  • Suburban pickups. North Shore and surrounding communities are quoted by distance and time. See service areas.
  • Long-distance and interstate. Routes beyond the Chicago area are quoted by route, drive time, and vehicle. See long-distance car service.
  • Cities outside Chicago. Chauffeured service in other U.S. and international cities is coordinated through professional local transportation partners. See worldwide transportation.

Questions about rates

Chicago Limo Rates & Pricing FAQs

How much is a limo from downtown Chicago to O'Hare?

The published rate from downtown Chicago to O’Hare or Midway is $100 in an Executive Sedan, $140 in a Premium Sedan, $130 in an SUV, and $260 in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van. Rates from the airport into Chicago are $104, $144, $134, and $296, respectively. A 12% service charge and 20% chauffeur gratuity are added to these base rates.

Do the published Chicago limo rates include gratuity?

No. The rates shown in the tables are base rates. A 20% chauffeur gratuity and a 12% service charge are added automatically when the reservation is priced, and both appear on your quote before you confirm.

Is there a minimum for hourly chauffeur service in Chicago?

Yes. Hourly charters carry a three-hour minimum. Downtown transfers carry a one-hour minimum.

Am I charged the hourly rate or the mileage rate?

One or the other, never both—hourly and mileage rates are not automatically combined. Mileage pricing is used instead of hourly pricing when an itinerary involves a considerable amount of driving within a relatively short period. The applicable method is normally determined in advance and confirmed in your written quote.

Are O'Hare and Midway priced differently?

No. The published transfer rates between downtown Chicago and either O’Hare or Midway are the same. Rates from outside downtown are quoted by itinerary.

Why does an airport pickup cost more than a drop-off?

Rates from O’Hare and Midway into Chicago are published higher than rates into the airport. The difference reflects the MPEA ground transportation departure tax, a Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority charge that applies when a commercial ground transportation vehicle picks up passengers at either airport. It is $4 per airport departure for the sedan and SUV classes and $36 for the 13-passenger Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van. The tax is already included in the published airport-to-Chicago rates and is not billed a second time.

What is a Downtown Transfer?

It is a direct point-to-point option for trips inside central Chicago, including up to one hour from pickup to drop-off with no garage time. For an Executive Sedan, it is based on the published hourly rate of $75 with a one-hour minimum. The coverage area runs north to Fullerton Avenue, south to Cermak Road and McCormick Place, west to Ashland Avenue, and east to Lake Michigan. Availability, applicable conditions, and final pricing are confirmed in your written quote.

Do rates change for late-night or holiday trips?

They can. Service between 11:00 PM and 4:59 AM may carry an additional charge of $15 to $25. A $20 holiday premium applies on New Year’s Eve after 6:00 PM, New Year’s Day, Christmas Eve after 6:00 PM, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving Day.

Do you publish rates for suburban or long-distance trips?

No. Suburban, regional, and long-distance trips are quoted individually because distance, drive time, vehicle selection, stops, waiting, and other itinerary details can materially affect pricing.

How much does airport meet-and-greet service cost?

When available and confirmed, airport meet-and-greet service is $50 per pickup. The meeting procedure and location depend on the airport, terminal, and reservation details.

Why might my final charge differ from the published rate?

The final amount reflects the trip as completed. Additional waiting time, extra stops, extended hourly service, parking, tolls, airport fees, or itinerary changes made during the trip can all change the total from the original reservation.
